100 free turkey dinners given to families. Moonchild Foundation helps disadvantaged families this Thanksgiving.
With just four days away from Thanksgiving, one foundation helped countless disadvantaged families put a holiday meal on their table.
The Feed the Need event highlighted the alarming increase in the number of people who face food insecurity each day. Moonchild Foundation, alongside a variety of other sponsors, showed up to support families in the Amphi School District that are not able to afford a Thanksgiving meal.
“I can’t give it a price. I’m very thankful and know that there’s actually people out there that want to help,” said Gabriela Rojas, an event attendee.
For Rojas, receiving one of the meals meant the difference between celebrating Thanksgiving, and not.
100 free turkey meals with various ingredients and step by step cooking videos were given to families in need, like Rojas and her cousin, whom she wards.
She added that because of the event, it’ll bring her family closer together.
“These are powerful moments. And I think that from a standpoint of what the Moonchild Foundation’s aim is, is this is what it’s trying to complete. This is its mission. Just help, try to provide healthy food to families that are in need,” said Charles Davis Jr., president and founder of Moonchild Foundation.

For Davis, it’s an honor to give healthy and full meals to these communities. He listed inflation and grocery costs as a few of the reasons he wants to be a part of giving back, and hopes it’ll inspire other to do the same.
